With reference to your telegram lo 137 The following has been communicated to Hong Kong I discussed yesterday the situation at Canton with Prime Minister,
who expressed cordial appreciation of our efforts to assist in finding a solution. He said that he was doing all he could to husten arrid of new Govemer who
ought to reach his post in ten days, and that he hoped that till the General Lung would be able to hold but. He gave me to understand that Lung's opponents were
